Was it cold enough for a Brass Monkey? |
Sadly, no. The weather was too windy to fly balloons and the fields too wet to land them in. No flying then.

Despite the lack of ballooning activity, the dinner was well-attended.
The Trans-Pennine Challenge trophy, for the longest (straight-line) distance flight across the Pennines, was awarded to Kevin Graham.
The Brass Monkey trophy, awarded for 'Outstanding Achievement in Ballooning', went to Janice Stace for surviving 14 years as a committee member before retirement beckoned.
The many-candled birthday cake was awarded to Alex Smith to mark his 28th (?) birthday - a little fib there, I think!
All that was followed by an illustrated, and very entertaining, talk by David Bareford - a previous recipient (twice) of the Brass Monkey trophy ranks amongst his many achievements.
