On white horses let me ride again...
We've been to Thirsk again for our White Horse meet and we have had a right good old time despite only one real flyable slot on Saturday morning.
Off went the pack chasing the white horse, and the trophy of course, and all came back safe and sound despite the wind and rain doing its best to stop us having fun.

The days have been sunny which helped everyone have a great time, including the boys who went to the 'playground' for most of the afternoon, so lots of shopping, drinking and eating, and one C of A later and it was time for the quiz.

Saturday evening was bar quiz night (can't call it pub quiz as Thirsk Athletics Club have a bar, not a pub!) with Alex calling the questions, £1 entry into the quiz and the winners taking half the pot, the other half going to the club to fund the new gazebo. The eventual winners were Phil, Roger, Zara, Paddy and Linda. Well done chaps! Team Bellamy, and in particular Matthew Bellamy, took home a bottle of booze for correctly calling the heads or tails game, closely followed by another team Bellamy member (Ben Taylor) in second place.

No more attempts to fly to the white horse were made and the winner was declared at the survivors get together in the bar.

Who should win but Team Read! Last to take off on Saturday, but no means least.
Claire Westwood a very close second, Kevin Graham in pursuit, John Russon trotting along behind, and coming home last was the eminent Mr Wolstenholme who won a little white horse stuffed toy, just to remind him what a white horse could look like. Barbara Chamberlain is currently head groom and will deliver it to Mr W shortly.

We've also gained a few new members this weekend; one being the very lovely Paddy Donkin, who is well known to many of us as the lady who turns up in her well travelled red camper van. Welcome to the club Paddy. Oh yes, I said 'a few new members'......the other two being the V.I.K.'s - Joan and Graham's two kittens! They romped in the long grass at the end of the field and had a great time. Welcome to the club Mollie and Mitzy!

Thank you to all those who attended, what a lovely bunch of people, and thank you for joining in the fundraising; the club has made around £40 to finish funding the club gazebo, which was well received by all and surely came into it's own as briefing was called on Saturday night spot on time for a few drops of rain.

....and the next meet? Well it is Driffield Steam Fair of course. Check the website for an entry form but be quick, there is a very limited entry.
