Splash and Dash Meet 2026
We didn't get a Splash and Dash in but what we did get was a great new venue!

We arrived on the Friday at the Lockside Caravan Site, Ripon in lovely sunshine and a promise of flying.

Lockside is exactly that, the side of the lock, and it is a very popular place for walkers (on the tow path of course), narrow boats, paddle boarders, and a host of other leisure seekers. The site is dog friendly too. Plenty of space to pitch up and still inflate a few balloons.

Everyone rolled up on Friday evening but the wind didn't drop out as predicted, so BBQ it was. Great to catch up with friends as it seems a long time since we met up.

Saturday was a good day, just one flew as another decided a shake down flight after the winter lay off was best. They flew towards the racecourse lake but didn't go for a paddle. The other site inhabitants thought it was a fabulous sight and didn't mind the early morning wake up call.

Later than morning we attempted to inflate another balloon but the wind had picked up and the mission was called off mid inflation.

So, what to do on a sunny Saturday? Have a wander around Ripon of course. Ripon is the UK's third smallest city, and plays host to a number of drinking establishments as well as a number of independent shops, and a stunning cathedral.

Saturday was also a wedding anniversary for one couple, so we had a 'party' on Saturday evening, along with champagne of course. We had a little quiz which was a good twist on the usual and the prize - another bottle of champagne.

Sunday wasn't looking a good slot so a number of people took the opportunity to get off early.

And the verdict? Great venue, we'll be back....... in fact, it is already booked.
