Tether at Bedale
The Bedale balloon meet looked like a total washout but Sunday morning brought a clear patch with little wind so Alex and Elaine Smith turned it to their advantage.
Alex got instructor Andy Kaye out of bed to supervise his tether and woke the rest of the campsite with his fan and burner. It was worth getting up for. We got to see their new baby, "Ode to Joy" or G-OATV which had been stored for many years.

Due to the bad forecast, there was to be no briefing on Sunday morning so it came as a surprise to those in tents when they woke to find they were not in a gale but in the calm before the storm.

An army of spotters appeared and cameras were on high speed click.

So, a great weekend after all. The food provided by Nicola and her small group of helpers was brilliant. The BBQ on Saturday was also a great success. The bar sold out of Black Sheep ale again so we must have had a good time.
