Hot Air Ballooning Events and Meets
This is where you can find information on our club balloon meets, and these are not just restricted to our members, everyone is welcome, as always.

Please let us know if you would like to come along so we can greet you, and if you are joining us for the whole weekend meet all we ask is that you register your interest via the relevant meet entry form below.

Prior registration is simply to enable us to send you further details and keep you up to date with what is going on.

We do not make a charge to attend our meets without a balloon, and it is only 10 registration if bringing a balloon. The majority of our events have onsite camping/caravan/motorhome pitches, and nominal charges are made for overnight stays. These must be pre-booked via the registration form please.

The closing date for entries is usually the Saturday prior to the meet to allow us to order sufficient gas for everyone and also to finalise the details with the site. However, if you have left it too late and the deadline has passed by, don't worry, just get in touch and we will try to fit you in.

For more information about our meets, please contact the club's meet organisers; Alex and Elaine Smith, via the email address; meets@prba.org.uk or telephone 07974 316123

If you are interested in events further afield please see also www.balloonevents.org for a worldwide listing.
PRBA Balloon Meets
Humber Bridge Meet & Dinner 17/11/2017  - 19/11/2017
Linley Hill Airfield, Leven, near Beverley, East Yorkshire
PRBA's year-end meet, and being in November our flying hours are very sociable, so do come along for good company and a spot of flying; take your choice: balloon, microlight, light aircraft, paramotor and more. Some of the Aero Club members will flight-swap too.

Free camping on the airfield for those who dare to brave camping/caravanning in November or, for those who want electric hook-up, there are a few sites in the village and surrounding area.

Also at this meet we hold our annual Humber Bridge dinner - always a good night. 2013 saw out the evening with an impromptu paper plane fight; so in 2014 we held the PRBA paper plane challenge; 2015 we decorated and hovered helium balloons, 2016 we went a-raiding in fancy dress, arrrhh we were pirates. Lots of fun and big laughs with pirate jokes and limericks and some fantastic costumes!

So, 2017, what will we do? Check out the meet entry form and you will find out.

We welcome everyone to join us for our Humber Bridge dinner whether coming to the meet or not, but we must insist on payment with your dinner order, please.

The Flying Man of Pocklington Festival 11/05/2018  - 13/05/2018
Allerthorpe, East Yorkshire
Come and be a part of the Flying Man Festival and enjoy the carnival atmosphere in the village. 2018 is the 14th Flying Man Festival held in Pocklington, near York, and it is all in honour of Thomas Pelling, the infamous 'Flying Man' who didn't manage to fly very far, apart from vertically, and sadly to his death.

Competing as always for the Flying Man trophy - awarded to the pilot who flies the closest to the church tower.

We have a huge launch and camping area at Allerthorpe Lakeland Park.

All on-site overnight stays must be pre-booked and paid for.

On site watersports are available too including sailing, kayaking, swimming in the lake (if you are brave enough), or take the more comfortable option, and watch from the warmth of the cafe.

Henge Hoppers Meet 08/06/2018  - 10/06/2018
Kirklington, North Yorkshire
2018 is the 6th Henge Hoppers meet at the Camp Hill Estate and hopefully going from strength to strength.

Pilots are invited to compete for the fabulous Henge Hoppers trophy with a new twist on the challenge - the furthest away from the centre henge of the three Thornborough Henges will be the winner.

We are also considering a trailer towing championship on site, details will be updated as the idea takes shape.

We have a camping area, or you could contact Camp Hill to find out if they have any yurts, hobbit pods, camping barns, teepees or domes still available to rent for the weekend. Camp Katur has been voted one of the top forty places to stay in the WORLD!

All on-site overnight stays must be pre-booked and paid for.

There is plenty to do on site when not flying, eating or sleeping - from 'Aerial Extreme' to Segways; from horse riding to water-zorbing.

Naburn Lock 'Splash and Dash' Meet 21/09/2018  - 23/09/2018
Naburn Lock, York
Once again, we head back to Naburn Lock Caravan Park for the weekend, and being so close to the river what better pilot challenge than a Splash & Dash?

For the pilot who achieves the (best) S&D (or attempt), the Diver's Helmet trophy will be theirs to cherish (and polish) for the year!

John Russon won it two years on the trot - 2014 and 2015, with Malc Skilbeck stealing it from under his nose in 2016, the trophy was back in God's Own County for a year, then Derek Grimshaw took it back to Lancashire in 2017, so look out those Lancastrians we going to get it back again! Friendly rivalry only you understand!

If you are staying on site at Naburn Lock Caravan Park, please do not forget to contact them to confirm your place in addition to completing the PRBA entry form.

Autumn Gold Balloon Meet 05/10/2018  - 07/10/2018
Thornton-le-Dale, North Yorkshire
The Autumn Gold meet is now in its 6th year and, following a break from High Grundon Farm in 2017 due to the saturated ground (we had so much rain late summer 2017!), we are back to this friendly site for another relaxed ballooning weekend. Let's hope for the weather of 2015 and 2016, and perhaps even better.

We are just down the road from Thornton-le-Dale, which is the quintessential 'chocolate box' village and well worth a visit.

Bring your choice of tent, caravan or motorhome; book an onsite camping pod or even one of the lovely cottages.

There is plenty of local accommodation too - check out welcometopickering.co.uk for a host of hotels, guest houses, B&B's etc. in Pickering and the surrounding area.

Why not come to the meet and make a week of it by staying on for Pickering's 1940s Wartime Weekend?

The pilots will be chasing the Autumn Gold trophy again, and the task will be set by last year's winners.
